Information Security Analytics: finding security insights, patterns and anomalies in big data

Two days ago I finished reading this book, I thought I was buying an interesting book however it was a very unsatisfying experience.

The book is a 188 pages waste of time, unless you are ready to start putting some time into some technologies such as HIVE and Hadoop. It is not that these technologies are not interesting  it is that I do not have a home lab with this sort of technology in it. Even if I had access to this technology I would not go very far as they literally paste some examples in the book and they do not describe a methodology to find insight into big data as the cover claims.

This masterpiece seems more of manual with some brief examples and dozens of pages with useless code…it gets so bad that it dedicates a whole chapter to introduce R and Python as programming languages to support data analysis.
